Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is a treatment that can correct a variety of benign cosmetic skin problems. It is the nonsurgical approach to skin renewal.
Photorejuvenation/IPL is a skin treatment that can remove undesirable pigment and veins. It can also reverse the signs of sun damaged skin. It reduces pigmentations and treats the blush of Rosacea, improving overall skin texture and appearance.
How does Photorejuvenation/IPL work?
Using FDA-approved laser light technology, the Palomar Icon Aesthetic System safely delivers pulses of optimized light to target unwanted pigment and veins. The laser light activates the body’s healing processes to naturally improve skin imperfections. Icon IPL treatments are safe for all skin types. Pigmentation and vascular lesions on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs can benefit from IPL.
What to Expect During Icon IPL Treatments
Photorejuvenation/IPL is fast, with most treatment sessions lasting about 30 minutes. Depending on the patient’s condition, several treatment sessions may be recommended to achieve the best results. Photorejuvenation/IPL is not painful and most people don’t usually need anesthetic. The laser pulse is often compared to the snap of a thin rubber band. After treatment, a mild, sunburn-like sensation and some minor swelling is common, but will resolve rapidly. Patients can resume their normal activities following in-office treatments. In the weeks following treatment, clear skin will appear.
